Dear Little Boo,

First and foremost, I want you to know that everything will work out just fine, so there’s no need to be afraid or anxious. Even the stuff that scares you so much right now and makes you shake rattle and roll will be okay. As hard as it is to believe, especially with all that nervous energy crashing and colliding around inside your little body, you are safe. Yes you are, dear one.

This earthly experience called life, and all that comes your way, will always be for your higher good. Rest easy knowing this. Take comfort in this. Whatever the outcome, wherever you land, there is always something of value to learn from the experience. Perspective is everything.

Trust the process of life to take you to where you need to go.

Always surround yourself with good people, no matter what the situation. Good friends, good colleagues, good associates, good mentors, good humans. Value wisdom over knowledge. Lead with kindness and make this your secret weapon. It will serve you well. And be of service to others, no matter what your position or station in life. You are always good enough but never better than.

Extend grace and forgiveness to everyone who ever hurt you or caused you harm. You will learn throughout your life Little Boo that those who hurt you were also hurting. Coming from a place of brokenness and doing the best they could at that time. Forgive and let go. By doing so, your pain will be replaced with peace. And you want that more than anything.

Carry the love of Mom and Dad in your heart all the days of your life, especially after they have left the earth. They loved you unconditionally. What a gift. Not all children receive such a gift, so treasure that knowledge and thank them daily for their eternal place in your heart. You will feel their presence when you need them most. Surrender into their loving arms whenever and wherever you need to. Sometimes they will show up in other forms. Especially, in the hugs of your children and grandchildren. Hold tight. They are there with you. There is a piece of Mom and Dad living on through them. What an exquisite miracle.

And that little dog, Sugar Miettinen that you love so much, who is your constant companion, who shares your pillow at night and licks your tears. She will always be with you. Her name may change, and the colour and texture of her fur may look different over the years. But you will always have her with you. Love like that never dies, sweet girl.

Finally, remember to breathe deeply while you’re in the hard places and be grateful for the life you have. You only get this one, at least that we know of. And it is so fleeting that you must never take it for granted. Because in the blink of an eye, you will be older, and I think beloved Little Boo, you are wiser.

Love,

Big Boo
