Dear Girl Warriors,
For the past two weeks I have been trying to think of something to say to you. Something good. Something inspiring. Something helpful. Something.
Then I realized, I got nothing. Nothing.
Until this morning when I woke up. Thank God for that. At the risk of sounding all Pollyanna (if you don’t know the reference, look it up), the sun was shining. Shining. In all its glory. Just for me. And you. And you. Yes, you. All of you.
And when you think of it, that’s a pretty amazing thing. Profound in magnitude. Because the sun is pretty fucking big. And it makes things grow.
Despite all the scary, tragic things going on in the world, the sun came up this morning. And it shone its light in all the deep dark places my puny mind had succumbed to these past two weeks. It opened my mind to all the possibilities that lie ahead, especially for you, because you are beautiful in every way. Every way possible. It’s a simple thought, so take it in. Breathe it in. And spread it around. Let it grow.
You are beautiful in every way. And beautiful Girl Warriors do beautiful things. Things that have a lasting and permanent impact on our families, friends, neighbors, colleagues, community, country and our hurting world. You are that powerful. You are a force to be reckoned with. So don’t cower in the face of this particular challenge or any other one coming your way. Because bad shit will always be raining down. Whether it’s on you, or someone you don’t even know, who lives worlds away. Shit happens. So take care of it.
But after the rain, the sun does come out. It’s part of the grand design. A natural wonder. Happens every day. Even when you can’t see it. It’s there. A daily gift. An optimistic reminder.
That there is hope. Let it grow.
So there it is. My real message to you on this fine sunny Sunday morning. Go out and plant a seed Girl Warrior. Literally. Metaphorically. Spiritually. Plant a seed of your choice in the garden of your making. Plant a sunflower seed in your windowsill or garden path. Plant an imagination seed in the creative corner of your wondrous mind. Plant a sacred and everlasting seed of hope in your heart, mind and spirit.
Let all these seeds take hold today Girl Warrior. And watch them grow in the sunshine. And always remember, where there is hope, there is life.
That’s it. That’s all I got.
Boo
